Joshua Gerken
Vice President, Program Integration
Josh Gerken is the vice president of Program Integration for Consolidated Nuclear Security, the management and operating contractor for the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Gerken is responsible for advance planning, budgeting, and program management for CNS missions. He also integrates customer requirements and budgets across internal CNS organizations to map out and execute work.
Gerken most recently served as the CNS Transition manager at Pantex, where he oversaw transition of the site to a new management and operating contractor. In this role, he established a Transition Managers’ newsletter to facilitate workforce communications, with input from three separate managing organizations: the NNSA Pantex Field Office, PanTeXas Deterrence, and CNS. Gerken also developed and implemented a novel approach to support incoming contractor job offer letters, enabling an efficient contract transition without impacting Pantex mission deliverables.
Prior to serving with site transition, Gerken was the senior director of the Pantex Stockpile Programs organization, where he was responsible for Pantex programmatic scope, schedule, and cost under the National Nuclear Security Administration Office of Stockpile Management portfolio. He also facilitated workload planning and requirements development within an approximate $500 million annual budget.
Gerken’s nuclear production leadership experience includes engineering, dismantlement and disposition, and Stockpile Programs. He also served as a senior technical advisor for NNSA headquarters (NA‑122), where he earned a Defense Programs Award of Excellence and was part of a team that received a Secretary of Energy Award for the W76‑2 modification.
Gerken holds an M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University and a B.S. from Texas Tech University.
